Exclusive Partnership Brings FIRTEC Technology State-Side
[Los Angeles, CA – February 11, 2025]
KSD Studio Monitors, premier designers of hand-crafted loudspeakers and the first to market with a DSP studio monitor in 1996, make their North American debut exclusively with Sound Vision Works, a professional audio marketing, sales, and distribution agency. The partnership marks KSD’s entrance into the U.S. marketplace, beginning with the launch of the German-based company’s A200mk2 three-way active monitor. Additional product releases are set for March and April 2025.
KSD Studio Monitors aim to deliver the most precise sound reproduction and balanced frequency response in their loudspeaker systems by utilizing the patented digital technology, FIRTEC. After recognizing a need for a time-aligned studio monitor free of latency, KSD founder Johannes Siegler, together with his mentor and partner Dieter Klein, developed a DSP-based solution in 1994. Designed to the exacting standards of
Germany’s Tonmeister specifications, FIRTEC employs phase-linear filters on custom FPGAs for low-latency, accurate, and tonally neutral delivery across the entire frequency range. It is utilized in all KSD product offerings.
“The development of KSD speakers is driven by a relentlessly dedicated scientific method, and we’re eager to share such innovations with a new audience,” says André Hammerschmidt, Managing Director of KSD Studio Monitors. “Together with Sound Vision Works, KSD is first releasing the A200mk2: a three-way active monitor free from the physical limitations of traditional speakers.” He continues, “By implementing FIRTEC on the driver level, we solve the runtime difference between the highs, mids, and lows, removing the constraints of analog laws. With nearly imperceptible latency, extreme precision, and no burn-in period, we believe our clients will find the A200mk2 to be a creatively liberating studio monitor.”
The A200mk2 is constructed with a 3” midrange dome and 1” tweeter in an aluminum waveguide, resulting in a homogeneous sound field, and allowing for both horizontal and vertical orientation. The A200mk2’s 10” bass driver delivers powerful low-frequency response down to 28Hz without the use of a subwoofer. With adjustable high and low shelving filters on the amp for quick acoustic adjustments, end-users may easily calibrate to their creative preferences, and have additional control options available via the KSD-RC remote.
“To our ears, KSD brings something new and exciting to the studio monitor arena, and there was no question we needed to bring this hidden gem stateside,” says Eric Larsen, Sound Vision Works and KSD Brand Manager. He continues, “The future expansion of our lineup is equally as exciting. Upcoming product releases include solutions for smaller studio spaces and a soon-to-be-debuted flagship monitor that will not only meet but exceed the expectations of even the most demanding engineers and producers in the largest rooms.”

About KSD Studio Monitors
KSD Studio Monitors are the premier designers of German-made, handcrafted loudspeaker systems. Recognizing a need for a time-aligned studio monitor free of latency, KSD founder Johannes Siegler, together with his mentor and partner Dieter Klein, began researching a solution to such a challenge over twenty-five years ago. His tenacity and steadfast commitment to exploring DSP technology in a studio setting led to the invention and patenting of KSD’s groundbreaking FIRTEC technology in 1994. Two years later, in 1996, Siegler and his colleagues brought the first digitally equalized studio monitors to market, with the development and production of their landmark ADM2. The team at KSD Studio Monitors continues to set the standard for unparalleled precision, tonal neutrality, and imperceptible latency in their range of product offerings, all of which are designed in-house and handmade in Saarbrücken, Germany.
